Back from Portland

I just finished up a recording workshop in Portland with Larry Crane. I learned a ton of new stuff and had a great opportunity to pick apart Larry’s brain. He has worked on lots of great stuff including Elliot Smith, Sonic Youth, Hella, The Shins, etc. I can’t wait to try out a bunch of new ideas and go broke buying analog gear!

Avoice coming in Saturday

Tracking some new songs Saturday and Sunday for Avoice. They are a new rock band featuring members of The Almost. All of them are good musicians, so it should be a pleasure on my part. If you haven’t already Check ‘em out facebook.com/avoicemusic

First session after the remodel

Recording some drums tomorrow with long time friend/bandmate and studio drummer extraordinaire Randal Topper. Nothing like recording a great drummer with well tuned heads. This will be the first tracking session since the remodel, should sound great. rktopper.com

Ready to Roll

Finally everything is done! The New control room is ready to go with all the sound panels hung up and it is sounding great. The tracking room is painted, carpet pulled up with the old wood floors adding a lot more life to everything.

Finished Painting the Control Room

Just finished painting the control room, it’s looking good. Can’t believe how much work it’s been. Room dimensions are 12x16x10. I’ll be hanging the acoustic panels this week and be mixing by next week.

Still building

Just finished up the sheetrock in the new control room. Should be painting and hanging acoustic panels up this week.

Control Room Construction

Finished framing the new control room. We’ll be putting up the sheetrock and painting the walls this week.
